Financial Aid

NFTY-EIE offers need-based scholarships (need is somewhat liberally determined) to our students. To help appropriately set your expectations, the average amount allocated is between $1,000 and $3,000 for eligible semester students. Depending upon the availability of funds, scholarships of up to $5,000 are awarded where there is significant verifiable need. For summer students, we can allocate up to $1,000 per eligible student. The amount will vary according to need and the funds available to NFTY/URJ.

Interested applicants should complete the main EIE application and then complete the scholarship application.

Scholarship applications must be received by July 1 for the Fall semester, May 1 for the Summer session or December 1 for the Spring semester.

If you request a scholarship award of $1,000 or more, you must submit a copy of your tax documents in order to be considered. All information received is treated with the utmost confidentially.

Scholarship assistance is also available from a variety of other sources. We work together with these organizations to help put together an appropriate scholarship package for your family:

  • URJ Congregations usually have some scholarship money set aside for trips like this or know of other local sources of which we’re not aware
  • Local Jewish Community Federations/Bureaus of Jewish Education (Many Federations provide special scholarships for study programs in Israel)
  • The Jewish National Fund has a program called "Plant your way to Israel." You sell trees for the JNF, and they put half of your earnings into an account that you can later redeem for a trip to Israel. For more information, visit their website

Our goal is to help you put together a financial package that will make participation in this extraordinary program possible.
