COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAMS

PSAT
The PSAT will be given on the NFTY-EIE Israel campus in October. There is nothing you need to do in advance. NFTY-EIE is a PSAT testing center and administers the exam on campus. The exam fee will be invoiced by the NFTY-EIE Burser directly to the student's account and a bill sent to the parents. As the results need to be sent to your home high school, please make certain that you bring your home school's test code number to Israel as well at your social security number . If you have any special accommodations , you must make sure to speak with your home high school guidance counselor in advance of coming to Israel. Your home high school guidance counselor will work in cooperation with the College Board professionals to provide the necessary documentation.

During the Fall semester, EIE offers a 15 hour PSAT prep course . This course is designed to familiarize students with the exam through extensive review so that when they sit for the actual test, they feel comfortable with both the style of the exam as well as the material being tested. This prep course is set up to teach how to grasp and identify the questions in order to provide the correct answer more quickly. This course is offered at the cost of $250.

SAT I & II
The SAT I Exam and the SAT II Subject Tests are given in Israel on Sundays rather than Saturdays. Students on the Fall semester generally take the SAT on the December testing date while students on the Spring semester generally take it in May. If you plan to take either the SAT I or SAT II Exams while in Israel, you must request an international paper application form from your home high school or the College Board . Please visit the College Board’s website at http://www.collegeboard.com/for more information. Fill out the registration form carefully, noting that you will take the test in a foreign country (there is an additional charge by the College Board for this service). You must apply to take the SAT I or SAT II exam at NFTY-EIE High School in Israel at Kibbutz Tzuba. Our testing center code is 74-423. You must register for the Saturday test date (be advised that in Israel these tests are given only on a Sunday and no Rabbi letter is required for this arrangment.) As the results need to be sent to the home high school, make certain that you bring the local high school code number and your own social security number with you to Israel .

High School Seniors who are planning to attend the NFTY-EIE Fall semester should take the SAT I or SAT II Exam before coming to Israel.

Be certain to pay the international testing fee and fill in the home high school's code number before you mail the application form back to the College Board. You must register for the SAT I or SAT II Exam before you leave for Israel in order to make certain that there is space . If you do need to register for the SAT I or SAT II Exam from Israel, you will need to pay for the exam with a credit card in US dollars , ONLY : Israeli shekels, traveler’s checks or cash will not be accepted. You must register in the United States for both the SAT I and the SAT II. For specific answers concerning the SAT I or the SAT II, please refer to the Educational Testing Service website: www.collegeboard.org.

Please remember that students cannot take the SAT I and II on the same day. (However, it is possible to take several SAT II’s on the same day).

SAT Prep Course

For many years, EIE has been offering a SAT course, which has recently been expanded to provide as thorough preparation for the SAT exam as possible. We have adopted a method of smaller classes to have a lower student teacher ratio and give students personal attention to increase their grades. The course takes place in after-school hours.

The course consists of approximately 30 hours of instruction , divided equally between Math and English, during of which the students are familiarized with all aspects of the exam. The course starts with a placement test, according to which the students are divided into small groups in which they are comfortable working. There are two more assessments during the course, which are used by the teachers to identify areas of weakness. Every student gets personal attention to meet his or her SAT needs. In between semesters, our teachers take refresher courses given by Prof. Marc Gertz of Florida State University who is an expert in SAT preparation.

This course is designed to familiarize students with the exam through extensive review so that when they sit for the actual test, they feel comfortable with both the style of the exam as well as the material being tested. This prep course is set up to teach how to grasp and identify the questions in order to provide the correct answer more quickly. Practice tests are done in complete simulation situation as the real SAT. The practice tests are given in the same room as the real SAT test, as this provides additional advantages.

We have built a quality prep course, at considerable expense. In order not to place the entire burden on the parents, EIE absorbs half of this cost. As a result we are able to offer the course at a cost of only $200 (or $100 if a student decides to take only Math or only English).

We strongly believe in the effectiveness of the course and encourage you to sign up your son or daughter, even if he or she is not taking the exam while in Israel.

ACT
If you need to take the ACT Exam you can do so in Israel. NFTY-EIE is an ACT testing center and administers the exam on campus. You must register and make full payment on-line for the ACT exam before you leave for Israel in order to secure a testing spot.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP)
The AP exams are offered on campus in May. If you plan to take an AP exam, your parents will be contacted in March regarding ordering and payment. Please note that AP exams given outside of the US are significantly more expensive. You must have a B or above in order to take the AP exam in Israel . There is nothing you need to do in advance to register for the AP exams. NFTY-EIE is an AP testing center and administers the exam on campus. Our Bursar will bill you for the cost of the exam after you have taken it.
